George A. Allen, Jr.

Donald B. Allen Scholarship - This endowed scholarship was established in 2015 by George A Allen, Jr, the brother of Donald B. Allen. George created this fund in honor of Donald and to provide support to students in Animal Science at Virginia Tech in perpetuity. Donald Allen was an associate professor at VPI from 1941 to 1953 in the Animal Science Department. He was also a veteran of World War II, serving the South Pacific. Donald resigned in 1953 to manage the Marriott Farm, Fairfield, in Hume, VA While farm manager at Fairfield, he bred cattle sheep, and horses, all of which were sold across the United States. He was a founding member of the Fauquier Livestock Association and the Fauquier County Feeder Calf Association. Recipients shall be students with a financial need and who are majoring in the Department of Animal and Poultry Sciences.
