I grew up in Louisa, VA and I completed my B.S in Animal and Poultry Sciences at Virginia Tech. After undergrad, I moved up to Penn State where I completed my master's in animal science. My master's research was a series of projects looking at how soybean meal particle size affects feed milling efficiency, pellet quality, broiler performance, and amino acid digestibility. I then had the opportunity to come back to Virginia Tech where I am currently working on my PhD in poultry nutrition under Mike Persia. A majority of my research is looking at how different concentrations, particle sizes, and sources of calcium affect laying hen performance and shell quality. I have also worked with turkeys and looked at how corn particle size affects turkey performance and intestinal health.
