Meagan grew up in Yorktown, VA where she first became interested in scientific discovery in the exploration of nature. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Animal and Poultry Sciences in December of 2023. In her undergraduate pursuits, she took part in different areas of animal research. Her love for lab work was fostered in Dr. Alan Ealy’s lab, working under Dr. Savannah Speckhart and Mary Ali Oliver on in vitro bovine reproduction projects.

She is a current Ph.D. student in Dr. Timothy Jarome’s lab where she is currently studying the roles of brain regions in synthesizing and reconsolidating fear memories. She is interested in understanding how the brain serves to function in perceiving and responding to organisms’ environments, and how aging impacts this perception.

To unwind, Meagan enjoys spending time outdoors and exploring the NRV, fishing, kayaking, breaking clays in trap/skeet/sporting clays competitions, and spending time with friends and family.
