My name is Makaia Haight and I am from Mechanicsville, Virginia. In May of 2025, I graduated from Virginia Tech with a dual degree in Dairy Science and Animal and Poultry Sciences. After volunteering in Dr. Gerrard's lab for a year and a half, I developed a strong interest in muscle biology. I loved learning about different metabolites and seeing the effects that stress has on them. I decided to continue my education in Animal Sciences by pursuing a non-thesis master’s and continuing to work in Dr. Gerrard's lab.
