Alexis Butler

Non-thesis M.S. Student & Graduate Assistant Manager-Meat Processing Center

I am originally from New Kent, VA, a small county between Richmond, VA, and Williamsburg, VA. Growing up I always had a keen interest in anything animal-related. I grew up on a farm back home where my love for dogs, cats, and horses only grew. My passion for horses only grew as I got older. In May of 2023, I received my B.S. in Animal Sciences with an emphasis in Equine and Companion Animals on the pre-vet track with a minor in Agribusiness. During my undergraduate career I was involved in Block and Bridle, Sigma Alpha, Equine Reproduction Club, I helped in Dr. Gerrrard’s research lab, I volunteered at the Equine Facilities on campus and was an undergraduate employee of the VT Meat Processing Center.

I am now pursuing a non-thesis M.S. of Animal Sciences in Dr. Rhoads' lab where the research focuses on growth and development. I am also the Graduate Assistant Manager of the Meat Processing Center.
