Mark Ellett

Ph.D. Student

Originally from Nottoway County, Virginia, Mark is a 2018 Virginia Tech graduate with Bachelors of Science Degrees in Biology and Animal and Poultry Sciences with an emphasis in Livestock Science. Mark started a direct Ph.D. with Dr. Kristy Daniels in January of 2019 working in Animal Systems Biology. His research focuses on how heat stress impacts gastrointestinal integrity, whole body protein metabolism, and milk yield and composition in lactating dairy cattle. He is interested in metabolic and physiologic changes that allow dairy cattle to adapt thermal and oxidative stress.
