Shannon Mauro

Ph.D. Student

Shannon grew up in Live Oak, Florida, but moved to Virginia in her late teenage years. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise, during this time she became very interested in genetics, and basic science research. After spending some time working in Dr. Tim Jarome’s lab for a summer, she decided to pursue her Ph.D. during which she will be researching epigenetic mechanisms of fear memory formation. Shannon plans to continue with epigenetic research after graduation.
